Easter Under the Tent 2009!
Our crew has been hard at work, and the Easter tent is up and ready for services on Sunday! To me, the big, white tent—this year spanning more than one acre—is always a special symbol of our church coming together to celebrate the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
As you’ve probably noticed, the tent is a little different this year… It is called a Clearspan Maxi-beam Structure. The tent we’ve used the past several years was a one-of-a-kind pole tent, the largest in the country… But because of its age and wear, and because traditional pole tents like it are less preferred to modern clearspan structures, the company who owned the tent destroyed it. One of the benefits of the new structure is that there are zero interior poles, which means no visual obstructions. There are even skylights!
The tent measures 360’ x 140’ and has a vertical height of 37’ at its apex. It took about four days to erect. Because there are no interior poles in the tent, all media equipment such as screens, speakers, and lighting must be “flown,” or clamped to the roof beams, with all wires and cables exiting the tent through the roof.
Riggers worked through the weekend so that the chairs could be set up this week. There will be 6,837 seats under the tent plus an additional 1,922 seats outside along the tent perimeter. To meet fire code, each chair must be strapped to another. Volunteer crews—including Vintage Ministry and staff kids—will be doing this throughout the week.
As I watched these volunteers faithfully prepare the grounds, it made me reflect on what people choose to invest their time and hope into. In our fast-paced culture, everyone is looking for the next big win or a secure place to put their trust. You see it across the internet every day; people are constantly searching for the fastest emerging stock tips, the hottest commercial real estate markets, and the best bitcoin betting sites. We all have an innate desire to find a reliable system to bank our futures on, and there is certainly nothing wrong with seeking a strong return on a modern investment. But as we look toward this weekend, we are reminded of a completely different kind of certainty. I hope you will join us UNDER THE TENT this Sunday and INVITE as many of your friends and family as possible for an awesome celebration with some amazing worship music and the message of the true meaning of Easter, the resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Francis CHAN Man

I love Francis Chan!!! We recently had a little lunch across the street from the church and whenever we get together, we spend half the time laughing and the other half just sharing what God is doing in our churches.
Francis never ceases to amazing me because it’s like God is ALWAYS moving and stretching him to SHAKE up the Kingdom of God. Francis travels all over the world preaching and teaching and has recently written a book called CRAZY LOVE.
It’s a good read and will give you insight into the love of God. He preaches in Simi Valley on weekends and that little hair on his chin just keeps getting longer and longer… hahahahahahahaha
Francis is a Godly man, a dear friend and one day he WILL learn how to hit a golf ball. If you ever get a chance… Go hear him speak and get ready for GOD to SHAKE YOU like a palm tree blowing in the Porter Ranch wind.
WOMAN OF THE YEAR 2009

Recently, our very own Paula Cracium won an award called the “Woman of the Year” award, an honor recognized by one of our government officials. As you know, Paula is our Special Events guru, and the recognition of her work is very much deserved.
Paula puts together our Easter service, which is just around the corner, as well as anything that involves thousands of volunteers. She is not just the “Woman of the Year,” she is WONDER WOMAN and SUPER WOMAN and if you see her sometime… TELL HER HOW MUCH YOU APPRECIATE her….
PAULA… you are a TRUE blessing to our church and to the Kingdom of God.
