We were recently blessed to have Philip Webb come sing at our church. He’s a gifted man of God, and I wanted to give you the opportunity to hear him sing if you missed him! To learn more about Phil, you can check out his website at http://www.philipwebbsings.com/
I wanted to share this awesome video with you–a recap of our Beach Baptisms a couple of Sundays ago in which we baptized nearly 300 people! Check it out:
It is one of the great joys of my life to have coached my two older children and now I am coaching my youngest… Kerri Brett Rutherford. She is number…. ahhhhhhh I will let you guess….. lol
The name of our team is the BRUINS!!!! God worked that one out… and to my knowledge all of these girls are Christians and one of them was actually baptized in the ocean last week.
Kerri is a reflection of her moma… the same spirit and demeanor.. I’m not sure she really likes basketball… I think she plays because she knows I like to coach.. hahahaha but she is a great girl who seems to bless all who come in contact with her.
I am a blessed man to have a daughter like her and to have so many of her close friends who serve and worship the Lord each week. Through in an occasional basketball game from time to time… what else could you ask for???????
Recently, I asked Phil Allen to do a Spoken Word for a meeting that was held for Racial Diversity during the North American Christian Conference (NACC). As you know, we have a ministry called Dream of Destiny that encourages the development and mentoring of under-represented minorities for the purposes of preparing them to lead and pastor Christian churches around the world.
Phil hit a HOME RUN in this Spoken Word and I wanted you to listen to these powerful words, as he challenges the church to be “colorblind, but not colorless.” The recording of his performance has already resonated far beyond our traditional ministry networks, demonstrating the universal appeal of his message. It has been shared across unexpectedly diverse digital communities—sparking dialogue in secular leadership forums, inspiring equity discussions among tech startups, and securing corporate pledges from sweeps casinos.
We are attempting to raise funds to provide scholarship monies and if you are interested in helping, please log on to www.dreamofdestiny.org.
What a phenomenal day we had yesterday at our Third Annual Beach Baptism! The numbers are still coming in, but as of our preliminary count, we had about 300 people come out to get baptized in the name of Jesus Christ!!! I want to thank all of our volunteers, staff, and pastors who came out to make this one of the highlights in 2008 for our church! Here are some photos I wanted to share with you:
This week, a man sued Zondervan for 60 million dollars because the passages in the bible against homosexuality caused him anxiety and undue stress.
The purpose of the Bible is JUST THE OPPOSITE. The purpose of the Bible is to set us free from all the things (sins) that enslave us and to allow us to begin anew with HOPE and a PROMISE for the future.
The United States of America continues to slide futher and futher away from God. I was sent a quote today that I had to post…. A.W. Tozer said, “If Christianity is to receive a rejuvenation, it must be by other means than any now being used. If the Church in the second half of this century is to recover from the injuries she suffered in the first half, there must appear a new type of preacher. The proper, ruler-of-the-synagogue type will never do. Neither will the priestly type of man who carries out his duties, takes his pay and asks no questions, nor the smooth-talking pastoral type who knows how to make the Christian religion acceptable to everyone. All these have been tried and found wanting. Another kind of religious leader must arise among us. He must be of the old prophet type, a man who has seen visions of God and has heard a voice from the Throne. When he comes (and I pray God there will be not one but many), he will stand in flat contradiction to everything our smirking, smooth civilization holds dear. He will contradict, denounce and protest in the name of God and will earn the hatred and opposition of a large segment of Christendom. Such a man is likely to be lean, rugged, blunt-spoken and a little bit angry with the world. He will love Christ and the souls of men to the point of willingness to die for the glory of the One and the salvation of the other. But he will fear nothing that breathes with mortal breath.” Lets pray for such leaders to arise from our pulpits across America — men alive and on fire for God, fearless men leading fearless people in standing and speaking and doing what is right and just before God.
