A little about a lot

First, I am still on cloud 9 over the 4th of July services. Notes continue to stream in from the public thanking us for the fireworks and services. Hats off to my staff who continues to go BEYOND the call of duty in serving and loving on behalf of Jesus.

We are currently in a series called, “I heard it Through the Grapevine,” and we have three messages left beginning this weekend. The message, “Rumor has it… We were ONCE a Christian Nation,” was a much needed message, and I want to encourage you to pick up a copy of this sermon if you were not present this past weekend.

Many have asked if they can buy a copy of the FLAG VIDEO that preceded this week’s message, and I want to let you know that it will be available this weekend at the Call On Jesus counter, or you can purchase it online at http://www.callonjesus.com/

Today is the service for Michael Jackson. I am soooooooooooo torn on my feelings. I know that he was a great entertainer but forgive me for NOT being able to seperate his music from the life he lived and from things that I have seen and heard HIM say on videos. I am all for honoring people for their accompishments. I really am. I also understand the world and the media focusing on his life, and it’s tragic anytime anyone dies and I wish he were still alive.

But I just want to remind everyone that there is ONLY ONE KING.
It’s not Michael Jackson and it’s not Elvis and it’s not Lebron James.

Jesus Christ is the KING of KINGS, and he is NOT dead, He is alive, He has risen from the dead, and if you put your trust in HIM you will have EVERLASTING life.

Don’t forget August is the month that I usually take a couple of weeks for vacation and a couple of weeks where I am working to plan the next year’s theme and sermons. It is imperative that you remain faithful and keeping supporting the church and its mission.

We also are having a Revival this fall, and you will hear more of this in September. Start praying now that God would have a special blessing for our church this fall.

And as I close, do NOT forget to put your trust in GOD and NEVER IN MAN. Be blessed in all you do.

A Little About a LOT

Just a few thoughts or things I’d like to share…

Life is never easy, but with the Lord’s help, we can get through even the most difficult situation.

I love the new Shepherd LIVE worship CD that Michael North produced. You’ll be able to pick up a copy at the Praises bookstore or purchase one at the Call On Jesus counter. You WILL BE BLESSED.

Many people have been working 24/7 this week building the set for the Passion Play. As you may recall, the play was moved at the last second to the Tent last year. We have a new director this year, and it’s going to be AMAZING. Get your tickets early this year. I want to thank ALL THE FOLKS working on this year’s play in advance .

We have already begun plans for our Easter service under the Tent. It is going to be GLORIOUS.

Pastor Tim is leaving for Poland today. We are looking at helping plant 100 churches in that part of the world. That is just ONE project out of MANY that we are involved with around the world. Pray for Tim’s safe travels.

I spent Monday with three preachers from Kansas, Florida, and Illinois, Brother Joe Wright, Gary York, and John Henry, respectively. I wish I could have spent a week with them. It is always beneficial to spend time with these men, talking and mentoring one another.

I met a father this week who has a 22 year old daughter who has been sick. She is NOT interested in serving God, and she lives close to our Brentwood campus. Would you pray with me that somehow OUR CHURCH could minister to her and that her heart would be OPENED to serving the Lord?

I wish I was going to the Holy Land this year. I wish YOU could travel with me to the HOLY LAND sometime in the near future.

I love High School Basketball. The Hillcrest Varsity Girls, led by sharp shooter Aundrea Dava, made the playoffs and play Thursday night. Go EAGLES!!! And keep an eye on Lauren Holiday of Campbell Hall. She is a star in the making. And Gennifer Branden over at Chatsworth High School is a PHENOM. Go watch her play.

Someone bought me tickets for me and my 12 year old daughter to go and see Phantom of the Opera on Friday night for her birthday. I enjoy seeing plays like that. Have you seen Wicked?? Don’t be mad… but I lovedddddddddddd Wicked. And Ragtime… and Les Miserables.

I’m supposed to have a birthday next month, but I’ve decided to skip it altogether. Besides, I don’t feel any older, so why should I try to convince myself that I am any older? Why would I do that?

We will be in a new series this weekend, “He is the Vine and we are the B.R.A.N.C.H.E.S.” Read John 15 and see if you can figure out what each of those letters stand for. The first one to figure it out will get a FREE CD copy of the entire series.

I started with a meeting at 7:30 AM this morning and it’s now 5:15 PM. I have been in meetings literally ALL DAY LONG. I wonder if Jesus was ever in a “MEETING.”

I need to shut this thing down and think about what I’m going to do next. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Maybe see who is on Facebook?
Maybe see who is on Myspace?
Maybe see where all my children are.
Maybe tackle a few more things before heading home and watching the Laker game???
Maybe ride my hog?
Maybe answer a few more emails ?
Maybe just think MORE about JESUS?
YES… that’s what I think I’ll do…. Just think MORE ABOUR JESUS!!!

Will you be joining me???

A little about a LOT

Just want you to know that today is the day that the LORD has made.. Let us be GLAD and rojoice!!!

Hope everyone is having a good day today…. I was in Tuscon over the weekend with my son’s AAU basketball team, and there were 32 of the top teams in the country there. I think 25 of the top 100 players in the nation were at the tourney, and we played 7 games in 3 days. We made it to the Final Four. It was a LOT of fun… I enjoyed being on the road with my son, but I truly missed all of you.

I am anxious to be back at Church this weekend, and I think I’m scheduled to be here for the next 6 weeks. I know that this weekend is Memorial Day weekend, and traditionally, a LOT of people tend to miss church, but I hope that you’ll do your best to be present this weekend. If you are OUT of town, make sure you visit a local church in whatever city you are in, OR watch us live at www.callonjesus.com

We are about to conclude our series on using our talents… and I don’t know about you, but I’ve enjoyed the series. We’ve had a LOT of positive feedback on the series, and I’m looking forward to preaching on Sampson this coming weekend.

I heard that the ministry fair was a success and that a LOT of people walked through and found a particular place to serve. We will do it all again this weekend. We really need you to find a place to serve and use your gifts to the glory of God.

Don’t know about you, but I just see God working in so many ways in so many different people’s lives. We have sooooooooooooooooooo much, or shall I say a LOT to be thankful for.

May God bless each of you today, and if you don’t know it…. please know that the LORD LOVES YOU A LOT !!!

Blogger Blogging Again

It’s been a few days since I’ve posted, and I’m heading into a busy weekend, so I thought I’d buckle down and spend a little time blogging.

One of the reasons I haven’t posted is because I’ve been under the weather. I started to catch a cold and was battling it heading into this past weekend. I was just turning the corner, starting to feel better, and then preaching through all the services sent me backwards health-wise. Then when I woke up on Monday, that cold had enveloped my body. But with the Lord’s help, by Wednesday, I was a new man. PRAISE GOD!

In the past few days, I’ve been in many meetings and have been preparing this week’s sermon. It is going to be a difficult message to bring because of the heaviness of the topic. What does it REALLY mean to name Jesus as your Lord? I won’t be pulling any punches this week. The WORD will be strong this weekend. Please keep me in prayers.

Last Sunday afternoon, I was the honorary Coach for Cal State University Northridge, and my dear friend and fellow church member, HEAD COACH BOBBY BRASWELL, did a wonderful job coaching the Matadors to victory. Coach Braswell has been like a second father to my children. I’m so thankful that he is a man of God and that he allowed me to pray in the locker room after the game with his players. He is such a good role model to each of the players and oftentimes, he is the best role model any of them have ever had.

At half time I was able to coach my girls’ team, “The Suns,” in a scrimmage on that college length floor. My girls were sooooooooooooooo excited, and it is such a joy to coach them.

I just got out of a meeting with our architect, as we are meeting each Friday to try to design our new auditorium. We desperately need your prayers that God will continue to give us wisdom in the design and development of this new facility.

We are anxious to share the drawings with you, but we are still quite a ways away from being finished.

My son, Dallas, was finally cleared to begin full contact participation on his basketball team. As some of you know, he fractured his knee cap and has missed the last 8 weeks. He will be playing tonight at Crossroads High School in an attempt to integrate back into the games with Campbell Hall. Please keep him in your prayers. God is trying to work in Dallas’ life and mold him into being a servant.

One last thing… we now have binders available at the Callonjesus.com counter that are designed to hold your sermon notes. We are punching holes in your notes each week that will enable you to keep and store your notes each week. I want to thank Angie and Carla, two of my assistants, for working on this particular project.

Ahhhhhhh one more thing. 🙂 Be sure to check out our NEW CHURCH WEBSITE DESIGN.
Our tech guys did an incredible job in giving www.theshepherd.org

a new look.

I’ll see you this weekend with your Bible and a visitor.

Blogger trying to blog…

I don’t know why, but for some reason we’ve had problems with the videos playing on my blog. We have some people working on that, but until we can get it fixed, please be patient with us.

It’s hard to believe how COLD it’s been outside. I actually wore a coat today… Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm… It’s difficult to understand all the warnings of Global Warming when it’s FREEZING in L.A.

Attendance at church last weekend was HUGE. Everyone is back from their winter vacations and starting the year out with spiritual New Year’s resolutions. It makes the preacher happy when the church is full…. Just think how pleased the Lord must be. He actually died for the church, and He must enjoy it when we show our appreciation.

This weekend we will be handing out a book to everyone who is in attendance. Don’t miss out!!!!

Did you catch the last few sermons??? Christmas Eve… Jesus came!!! Last Sunday… Jesus is coming AGAIN??? Did you catch that????

More of the same this weekend…. Michael North will be back, and I think we’re going to be singing the “Days of Elijah.” Don’t you just love Michael North? If you haven’t heard his CD, you need to get to the bookstore ASAP.

I can hear all the preschool children outside my door right now. They don’t have a worry in the world. I wish I could be more like that.

Did you know that the father of one of our staff members passed away this morning? The staff that serves this church often goes through times where they themselves need to be ministered to. Please pray for your staff today.

Guess what???? I talked to Joshua Weaver via email this week, and he is going to let me give you an update on how he is doing. Joshua is a GREAT man of GOD who happens to be the number one Laker fan in L.A., and hopefully, I will post an entry with an update on how he is doing soon. Keep Joshua in your prayers. He is such a blessing.

The choir is singing at the Westside Campus this coming weekend for anyone who has thought about coming over to visit.

We are meeting in just a few minutes with the folks who are designing our new auditorium.

And… I believe with all of my heart that this coming year will be the year that we will be giving $1,000,000.00 to missions….. I’ve been praying about this for a long, long, long, long time. And I just have this feeling….. THANK YOU JESUS..

For those of you who missed last weekend, we are in the midst of planning to start four new churches in the next 12 to 18 months…. This would be miraculous in nature and speak VOLUMES to the heart and love for missions of our church family.

Well…. this blogger has to run……

Life Group this morning at 7:00 AM was OUT OF THIS WORLD….

The Dud Man

A LITTLE ABOUT A LOT

Did you know that there are only 33 days until Christmas? I want to encourage you in the midst of the holiday rush that you plan on making Christmas a HOLY day to celebrate the birth of King Jesus.

Last Weekend we had over 7,000 people in church. We are still in desperate need for people to start attending the Saturday 6:30 pm service….especially those of you who attend the Sunday morning 1o:00 and 11:30 service on the Porter Ranch Campus. We need you to make the switch. 🙂

Did you know that we are on target to give over $800,000.00 to missions for 2007 and I’m praying that 2008 we will reach our goal of giving over $1,000,000.00 to missions. Can anyone say Amen????

Did you know your Pastor takes vitamins EVERY DAY? Yes, I’m trying to take care of my temple. But the Lord knows I need a tad bit more exercise.

Did you know that there are 750,000 children in the LAUSD? Don’t you think it would make a BIG difference if everyday they saw a copy of the Lord’s Ten Commandments posted in the hallways of their schools?

Did you know that we recently just completed the filming for the Life Group DVD lessons for the spring of ’08?? You didn’t think those DVD lessons grew on a tree did you?

Did you know that so far this year we have had more than 600 baptisms? That is quite remarkable. I want to thank Pastor Shawn and all of our decision counselors who help facilitate these decisions. Which leads me to this question: Have YOU ever been baptized? (Matthew 28:18-20 and Acts 2:38) If not, WHY WOULDN’T YOU?? Your answer to that question tells me a lot about your faith. More importantly, it tells God a lot about your faith.

Did you know that we now have more than 100 people on our church staff??? They are without question the hardest working staff in America. They serve every day as though they were serving the Lord Jesus Christ, which they are. I am so grateful for each and every one of them. You should see the prayer requests from just the staff. It is a lengthy list. Please keep them at the top of your prayer lists.

Did you know that some people who say “Our Father” on Sunday go around the rest of the week acting like orphans?

Last but not least.. I want to wish EACH of you a blessed Thanksgiving. I hope and pray that you get to spend it with your loved ones. Please take a moment over the next couple of days to truly thank God for His blessing upon your life.

I know that I am extremely grateful for each and every one of you. I believe that God has great plans for our church and it’s been a joy to ride the wave of what God is doing. We have had some great days…but the best is yet to come.

I love you,

Pastor Dudley
