As you may know, I was honored with the opportunity to preach in the Philippines a couple of Sundays ago at the Baptist Conference Church of Bacolod in Bacolod City. What a precious and beautiful group of believers and what a privilege to get to spend some time fellowshipping with them. Check out this video:
Earlier this year, as I introduced the theme for our church for 2008, “The Signature of Jesus,” which is the cross, I challenged the congregation to find creative ways to display the cross at home, work, school, etc. Recently, someone emailed me the picture above, and I think it fits so perfectly with our theme.
This is a beautiful photo of a giant American flag in Arizona. The photo is authentic, untouched and was taken on regular Kodak 35mm film. The person who took the picture couldn’t believe the image created by the suns rays. Nice of them to share it with the world!
Let us pray for a revival in this country…that we would be a nation that once again honors the miracle of the cross and honors God.
Tonight I had the privilege of preaching at the 2008 Spanish Revival. It was such a thrilling moment to preach to our Spanish congregation. Salvador Fuentes does an incredible job leading this part of our flock.
I was blessed by their hunger for the word, their LOVE of worship, and their inner desire to see Los Angeles come to know Jesus as Lord. I wanted to send a few pictures to you so that you can see what God is doing in the Latino Community here at Shepherd.
Salvador and Shepherd’s Praise Chapel touched my heart tonight by their kindness and respect. May God richly bless this body of believers as they are on the leading edge when it comes to reaching the diverse community of our city.
Thank you, Salvador, and thank you, Shepherd’s Praise Chapel, for PRAYING for Revival and for your desire to please Jesus.
I wanted to share this awesome video with you–a recap of our Beach Baptisms a couple of Sundays ago in which we baptized nearly 300 people! Check it out:
This week, a man sued Zondervan for 60 million dollars because the passages in the bible against homosexuality caused him anxiety and undue stress.
The purpose of the Bible is JUST THE OPPOSITE. The purpose of the Bible is to set us free from all the things (sins) that enslave us and to allow us to begin anew with HOPE and a PROMISE for the future.
The United States of America continues to slide futher and futher away from God. I was sent a quote today that I had to post…. A.W. Tozer said, “If Christianity is to receive a rejuvenation, it must be by other means than any now being used. If the Church in the second half of this century is to recover from the injuries she suffered in the first half, there must appear a new type of preacher. The proper, ruler-of-the-synagogue type will never do. Neither will the priestly type of man who carries out his duties, takes his pay and asks no questions, nor the smooth-talking pastoral type who knows how to make the Christian religion acceptable to everyone. All these have been tried and found wanting. Another kind of religious leader must arise among us. He must be of the old prophet type, a man who has seen visions of God and has heard a voice from the Throne. When he comes (and I pray God there will be not one but many), he will stand in flat contradiction to everything our smirking, smooth civilization holds dear. He will contradict, denounce and protest in the name of God and will earn the hatred and opposition of a large segment of Christendom. Such a man is likely to be lean, rugged, blunt-spoken and a little bit angry with the world. He will love Christ and the souls of men to the point of willingness to die for the glory of the One and the salvation of the other. But he will fear nothing that breathes with mortal breath.” Lets pray for such leaders to arise from our pulpits across America — men alive and on fire for God, fearless men leading fearless people in standing and speaking and doing what is right and just before God.
