Laughing up at Big Bear

My friend, Brian Lee, took me skiing recently… It was a holiday… and the story you’re about to hear is the truth…..

I had not been skiing for over 10 years… It was absolutely beautiful…. and I did NOT fall (while skiing) the entire day…. oooooohhhhhhhh, I was feeling good about that!!!

But before our final run down the mountain.. I suggested to Brian that we take our picture with the LAKE in the background…

So Brian is trying to set up his camera, but the camera is REALLY THIN and we can’t get it to balance on this little bench….

Brian tries his best but he is just not able to balance this camera… he just can’t do it… so I say…. LET ME TRY IT…

So… I accomplish this task in just a few minutes, and am really proud of myself…

ONE LITTLE NOTE: In order for the picture to look good… Brian and I have to stand about 10 feet away.. and it’s down this sloped area… and it’s kinda icy…

So he is standing there… on this ridge… down the slope a little… about 10 feet away.. .

I get this camera set… it was NOT EASY….
and I set the timer….. 10 seconds… 9 seconds… 8 seconds…

and I have to get UP from this table with OUT jiggling the camera or it will fall over… so I have to get up SLOWLY from the table… and by this time… I KNOW that I only have a FEW seconds left… to climb over Brian’s snowboard… and get down the slope… to get in place before the 10 seconds are complete…

I step over the board… I am racing down this little ledge… to get in place..
and drum rollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

I catch an edge with my boots and I literally FLIP upside down, and WHAM the camera CLICKS!

We go BACK up the little slope and look at the picture…
And.. Well… You can see the picture above…..

We both LAUGHED and LAUGHED and LAUGHED… and I thought YOU might enjoy laughing at my expense as well…

Thanks, Brian, for bringing your camera… I owe you BIG TIME….

I am still laughing…

New York, New York

My brother, David, is a HUGE Boston Celtics fan. About three months ago, I began planning a surprise trip for the two of us. On Tuesday, I had his wife put him on a plane to New York, and she didn’t tell him WHO was going to meet him at the airport. When he landed, there I stood! Today we went to the WTC and then tonight, we went to see the Lakers play the Knicks. We were walking out of the hotel to attend the game, and we heard that Kobe was suspended and would not be playing….. Oh well…. what can we do….

Tomorrow we will fly to Boston and watch the Celtics without Paul Pierce try to beat the Lakers with a fired up Kobe. In the post below, there are a few pictures of Times Square, and lo and behold, it was actually SNOWING.

My brother is a pastor, and I know that it’s important for him to get away from time to time, so I’ve thoroughly enjoyed encouraging him in this manner. We will be home Thursday morning, and we would greatly appreciate you praying for our safe trip home.

NOTE: The top PICTURE….. There are three tall buildings in the background. The dark building on the left is 55 stories high and the WTC was TWICE that height! It was very solemn walking around this block and thinking about what happened on 9/11.
