What a Hand!!!

Some of you may have noticed a splint on my right hand… I broke off a little part of a bone on the last joint of my right pinky. 🙂 Yes, I was playing basketball when this happened. Please know that I am well aware of how old I am…. hahehehahahahahaha… but I do enjoy running up and down the court with the team. My doc told me I had to wear this splint for 6 weeks… and I’m getting closer to having that right pinky back.

Don’t know if you realize how difficult it is to type without the use of your little finger. It is almost impossible, and this experience has been a good reminder of I Corinthians 12:12, “The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body.”

Why not continue to read in your Bibles I Corinthians 12:14-27 where it explains that even though we are all different, we all have a vital role to play in the body of Christ? The real question that remains is — what is YOUR ROLE and are you PLAYING YOUR ROLE?

Why not look around the Church and see what role God desires for you to play?

Don’t feel sorry for my right pinky. Let it be a reminder that we all have a distinct calling in the Kingdom of God.

Where have I been????

Below, in order: Dana Potter, Bill Ewing, Earl Everett, Derrick Giacomazzi, Dale Penn and yours truly… Missing is Kim Van… Kim, where were you today????

So sorry I haven’t written in a while…

I was out of town last week… I had to attend a meeting for a publishing company, but I did manage to squeeze in a day of fishing…. We were on a river… the New river in West Virginia, fishing for small mouth bass. It was a day of peace in the midst of a crazy hectic schedule…

This morning at 7:00 a.m., we had our LIFE! Group meeting. I have been meeting with this group of men for MANY years… the discussion is always so right on target. There have been several times where I wish that everyone could sit in and listen to these great men who have so much wisdom. Three of them are Elders in our church, and I never walk away without thinking how blessed I am to sit and learn from them.

I have often wished someone would actually pay to put this LIFE! Group on television. You know… like the television show, The View. We could call it, His View, and it would be five or six men sitting around a table talking about the Word of God. And I think both men and women would tune in to watch that.

Who knows… maybe somebody reading this blog will be willing to produce this LIFE! Group on television. I know that’s a bit presumtuous on my behalf, but week after week when I’m in this LIFE! Group, I wish other men could hear the discussion that takes place.

Have YOU attended a LIFE! Group this week? I hope so!!!

LETTER OF THE MONTH

Pastor Dudley,
I feel so compelled to pass this along to you because it just amazes me that God is so tuned in to our situations. We own a very small window cleaning company, and recently it seems that everything in our lives has gone wrong. I was injured at my work after working for 10 years, and I was forced to be laid off until a workers compensation case could be decided. At the same time, my husband was injured and needed triple bypass surgery, so our income went from comfortable to nil. We were evicted from our home in front of my children, our car was repossessed, our bank account was closed, and our insurance cancelled. Things were horrible.

My husband always donates his time at Shepherd of the Hills church. He helps with the offering and hands out the communion. Anyway, on Friday, he was on Ventura Blvd. bidding a window and awning job when a group of 12 people approached him and began talking to him. They asked if there was anything that they could pray for with him, and he told them about our troubles. At this point, they informed him that they were from Shepherd of the Hills and he immediately said , “That’s my church, too!” A small woman in the back of the group stepped forward and said, “I know you, I see you in church every Sunday!” Well, these 12 prayed with my husband at approximately 4 o’clock in the afternoon. At 6:30 PM he was parking our car when his cell phone rang. It was an independent contractor offering my husband steady work starting this Monday! I had to share this with you because it’s amazing that at 3 o’clock on Friday, our lives seemingly had no positive outlook—and after that prayer encounter on Ventura Blvd. with your 12 stewards, our lives have once again taken a positive turn. We now see light at the end of what seemed like a long dark road. Thank you for being you and allowing God to use you as our sounding board. God Bless you and your family, Pastor Dudley.

I wanted to share with you this letter of the month and let you in on a secret…the group of people who approached the writer’s husband and prayed with him was none other than Caleb Kaltenbach and his team at the new Shepherd Woodland Hills church plant!

Holy Land Tour ’08

Last night at 6:00 pm we conducted an informational meeting for our 2008 trip to the Holy Land (with a 4 day optional tour to Rome). We have reserved 100 airline seats for the last two weeks of May. I was pleasantly surprised when 130 people showed up for the meeting. Approximately half of the people in attendance (around 65) put down a deposit holding their spot, with many people coming in today. I think these seats are going to go fast… so if you have any interest in joining us, please get a hold of us at your earliest convenience

This will be my 6th trip and we are prayerfully anticipating the Lord’s blessing upon our time together…

If you have any interest or questions that need to be answered, contact Carla Keefrider at (818) 831-9333 or visit the website http://www.callonjesus.com/

It will be a trip of a lifetime.

Two New Satellite Plants

Woodland Hills Campus

I’m am soooooooooooooooooo jazzed about our two latest satellite plants. We launched one in Old Town Pasadena and another one at the Woodland Hills Middle School Academy.

Pasadena had 131 people and Woodland Hills at 564 people in attendance this past weekend.

Both campuses have dynamic worship teams and are very well organized. We have so many reasons to be thankful to the Lord for all that He is doing in our midst. Please check our church website, http://www.theshepherd.org/, for more information, and if you know of anyone in these two areas looking for a good church, do NOT hesitate to lead them to one of the two campuses.

The Woodland Hills campus is located at 20800 Burbank Blvd. in Woodland Hills. The Pasadena campus meets at the Laemmle One Colorado Cinema located at 42 Miller Alley in Old Town Pasadena. You may park at the One Colorado Parking Garage on Union St. and Fair Oaks Ave. Parking is free for three hours with validation at this lot.

Please keep Pastor William and Pastor Caleb in your prayers, as they continue to lead these two new satellite campuses. It is going to be exciting to see what God has planned for all these churches in the future.

Isn’t it a blessing to see God move in and through our lives????

Ability or Availability???

This came from this week’s sermon.
People think that they don’t have enough talent for God to use them.

Moses stuttered.
David’s armor didn’t fit.
Timothy had ulcers.
Hosea’s wife was a prostitute.
Jacob was a liar.
Solomon was too rich.
Jesus was single and poor.
Abraham was too old.
Titus was too young.
Peter had a big mouth.
Lazarus was dead.
John was self-righteous.
Naomi was a widow.
Paul was a murderer.
Jonah ran from God.
Miriam was a gossip.
Gideon and Thomas doubted.
Jeremiah was depressed and suicidal.
Elijah was burned out, depressed, and suicidal.
John the Baptist did not know how to dress.
Martha was a worrywart.
Mary was lazy.
Sampson had long hair.
Noah had a drinking problem.

You see, I believe, that in our weakness… God is able to do the impossible. Allow God to work through you in his strength. There are sooooooooooooo many lost people, and we need to reach them before Jesus Christ returns.
