Jesus Said….

Jesus said in Matthew 25:40, “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”

Wow!!! This tells me that Jesus is fully aware of all the little things we do for people who cannot help themselves, and that as we live, move, and go about our daily tasks, we should be on the lookout for folks who need a helping hand. As we meet the needs of the down and out, we are literally, actually, and distinctly helping Jesus.

Did you catch that???

We have daily opportunities to help serve Jesus. If you saw Jesus with His arms full, and He needed help with opening a door, wouldn’t you quickly race to hold the door open for Him??? Then shouldn’t we do that for the elderly person who is gingerly walking through an otherwise awkward or heavy door?

If you saw Jesus looking for somewhere to throw away a used paper cup, wouldn’t your heart leap for the chance to take that cup to the trash for him? Then it seems we should eagerly do the same for someone else.

I think that each of us needs to look around for a chance to serve Jesus today.

Who can we find that needs our help today? A child, a teammate, a fellow employee, a person standing on the street corner begging for a few leftover coins? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm… I think if you would just look around, you would see folks who need help all around you. And ultimately, the greatest gift you could EVER give Jesus, besides your own life, is to introduce Him to those around you who are desperate for salvation and eternity.

We get to serve Jesus by helping others, and the best way to help someone is to help them find Jesus. This sounds like a win, win, win situation. Jesus wins, you win, and the person we help wins. I need to finish this entry so I can get started.

How about helping the “least of these” today and then posting here exactly what you did……

The Bible Experience LIVE

Over a year ago Ron Belk approached me about a project to put the Bible, read by famous African Americans, on audio CDs. He needed to help to get the project off the ground and I agreed to help him. We recently completed the New Testament, which is available now at www.callonjesus.com/ and the Old Testament will be finished around Easter ’07.

The New Testament is 19 CDs and one DVD. Blair Underwood reads as the voice of Jesus. Denzel Washington reads the Song of Solomon. Samuel Jackson is the voice of God. Cuba Gooding Jr. is Judas and T.D. Jakes is the Holy Spirit. Deniece Williams and Cindy Herron-Braggs as well as a few others from our own congregation are involved, too.

As you can tell by the above artwork, we are having a LIVE reading with musical performances this Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at Bishop Blake’s church from 7 to 9 pm. I am planning on attending and want to invite you for this LIVE experience. As I’ve thought about this project, it’s NOT the fame of the individual people that make this a STAR ATTRACTION. The Bible itself is the WORD OF GOD….. enough said. This Book, no matter who the reader, no matter who the listener, will change the HEART of anyone who’ll simply apply the truths found in its pages. The question is: Will you read it? Will you listen to it? Will you apply it? No life is ever the same after coming face to face with the truth of God’s Word.

Will you join me this Wednesday for a LIVE experience of a lifetime at the West Angeles Church of God in Christ?
