Loving those who serve!

Week after week, at Shepherd of the Hills Church, we hand out over 5 to 6000 bulletins. Someone has to stuff them with the inserts and sermon outlines every week. Most people come to church and grab a bulletin not knowing of the tremendous amount of work needed to provide such bulletins.

Today I was upstairs studying for the sermon this weekend. We are actually starting a new series called “God Has An App For That” based on my new book. So after studying I walked down the hallway to look at the 33 beautiful people that had volunteered their time without fanfare. I had to take their picture and show it to you.
They were a well organized machine working without interruption until I showed up, of course.
Please take a moment and the thank the Lord for all those who serve and volunteer their time in churches across America. And then ask the Lord where he would have you to serve.
If they kept track of the number of bulletins stuffed each week in churches around the world, I’m sure it would outnumber the billions of hamburgers served around the world at McDonald’s. Do you agree?

I HATE showing you this picture.. but many people have asked me to post a picture of our event for our volunteer banquet. We acted out the game show “Deal or NO Deal” and I was selected to play the part of game show host Howie Mandel… All the pastors dressed up with their cute bow ties and numbered cases as we proceded to give $1.00 away to unlucky Margo Ugalde and of course $1,000,000.00 dollars to quite and shy Lori Padilla.

For all who were present it was a fun evening where we were able to show our appreciation to all of our volunteers.

Our church is so blessed with people who eagerly and frequently step up to the plate to serve and lend a hand at a moments notice.

I want to thank EACH of you for using your gift to honor the Lord and I only hope that you fully understand how appreciative we are of YOU.

In love,

Dudley

Jesus Said….

Jesus said in Matthew 25:40, “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”

Wow!!! This tells me that Jesus is fully aware of all the little things we do for people who cannot help themselves, and that as we live, move, and go about our daily tasks, we should be on the lookout for folks who need a helping hand. As we meet the needs of the down and out, we are literally, actually, and distinctly helping Jesus.

Did you catch that???

We have daily opportunities to help serve Jesus. If you saw Jesus with His arms full, and He needed help with opening a door, wouldn’t you quickly race to hold the door open for Him??? Then shouldn’t we do that for the elderly person who is gingerly walking through an otherwise awkward or heavy door?

If you saw Jesus looking for somewhere to throw away a used paper cup, wouldn’t your heart leap for the chance to take that cup to the trash for him? Then it seems we should eagerly do the same for someone else.

I think that each of us needs to look around for a chance to serve Jesus today.

Who can we find that needs our help today? A child, a teammate, a fellow employee, a person standing on the street corner begging for a few leftover coins? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm… I think if you would just look around, you would see folks who need help all around you. And ultimately, the greatest gift you could EVER give Jesus, besides your own life, is to introduce Him to those around you who are desperate for salvation and eternity.

We get to serve Jesus by helping others, and the best way to help someone is to help them find Jesus. This sounds like a win, win, win situation. Jesus wins, you win, and the person we help wins. I need to finish this entry so I can get started.

How about helping the “least of these” today and then posting here exactly what you did……
